A few weeks back we captured Lorene & Duane’s engagement photos near Columbus, OH. Because of the distance we decided that instead of hurrying back home we would explore for a day. We love exploring new places together, especially cities and we are excited that we got to officially check Columbus off the list. When it comes to exploring, we’ve never been into trying to hit every stop on the tourist map (Although Hugo sometimes wants to hit certain spots he has seen in movies). I don’t know why that is, maybe because we like to take it easy and sleep in when we are on vacation. We chose to check out the Franklin Park Conservatory. Which was amazing! We loved showing Gloria all the plants and butterflies. Her favorite part was playing in one of the fountains. We even witnessed a Jo-Ann Fabrics photo shoot, something us nerdy photographers would get excited about. I’ve been stalking their website looking for some of the images, but nothing yet.
Other then wandering the gardens we enjoyed eating at an amazing Venezuelan/Columbian restaurant, that had the most amazing fish tacos I have ever eaten. We also tried a new dish that’s called arepas, which is like a sandwich, but instead of bread, is made with tortillas. It was so good (sadly I didn’t take a photo), the one we had was stuffed with chorizo and eggs. We also found a Guatemalan bakery, and bought enough of pan dulce to feed a small village. It was so fun chatting with the sweet Guatemalan lady that runs the place, it was definitely the highlight of the trip!
We couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more, and look forward to hopefully be back again sometime.
Happy Tuesday Everyone!
