HAITI TRIP // JANAE ROSE TRAVELS

January 29, 2016

Two and a half years ago, Hugo and I took a class called Speaking Well through HarvestNET’s Kingdom Ministry School. To this day I don’t think we can recall exactly why we took the class. Now looking back however we do believe it was for this very reason. During the course of that six week class, we met Zacharie. Hugo and Zacharie became fast friends. Soon afterwards Zacharie introduced us to Stevie his fiancé at the time, and now wife, and once again we knew that we had found dear friends.

Zacharie was born and raised in Haiti, and he and Stevie met much like Hugo and I did. She was the English teacher, and he was the translator, the rest is history. Ever since meeting Zacharie, Hugo has told me that he thought a trip to Haiti was in our near future. Zacharie & Stevie are working on building a children’s home in Haiti and will be moving there permanently very soon. I don’t think we can express how proud we are of this beautiful couple, and how much we value their friendship. It is such a treasure to see what God is doing through their lives and vision.

So when we heard that they would be down in Haiti for the next couple of months working on the construction of the children’s home we knew we wanted to go. So we began making plans, and so our trip unfolded. With no expectations and open hearts we traveled to Haiti to help in whatever way we could, but mostly to support our friends, and see their home.

We had such a grand time, and are already looking forward to our next trip. Hugo helped in construction, and we even got to take photos for several families in the village. It is always a joy for me to photograph families and people that would otherwise not have the opportunity. I love the joy on their sweet faces when I show them the back of my camera, and I can’t wait to send the actual prints with an upcoming team making their way down to Haiti soon.

Here are a few photos from our adventure. Thanks Zacharie & Stevie for welcoming us with open arms. Our hearts are so full, meeting your family, seeing the children’s home, getting to pray together, and being a part of what God has laid on your hearts blesses us so very much!

Happy Friday ALL!

We spent our first night in Haiti at a hotel in Port-au-Prince. Gloria was pretty pumped to send some time by the pool, until Zacharie picked us up.

We are now huge fans of Haitian food. It was amazing to watch the family cook.

On our last day in Haiti, we went to a resort on the caribbean. Both Hugo and I have never been to the caribbean, so needless to say we were pretty excited about it.
