Hello & Happy Thursday, so this post was scheduled for yesterday, but this week life has kicked us into full blown nesting mode, and somehow it completely slipped my mind to press to publish this one yesterday. However as the saying goes better late than never. Especially because this post is about Sarah & Simeon, one of the AMAZING husband and wife teams here at Janae Rose Photography.

Last week Hugo and I reintroduced ourselves HERE, and we wanted to do the same for Sarah & Simeon. They’ve been part of the Janae Rose Photography Team for a little over a year now, and you can see some of their incredible work HERE. HERE. HERE. & HERE.

We are so grateful for this amazing couple, they have pioneered so much with us in our business, and have become some of our dearest and closest friends. They have cheered us on, stood with us in good and bad, and have prayed for us continually. To say that they’re “golden” would be an complete understatement. They’re loyal, talented, creative, insightful, and super witty. If you don’t already know and love them, then trust us you will after reading this post. 😉

We “virtually” sat Sarah & Simeon down, and asked them a little more about who they are, what makes them tick, and much more. So sit back, and enjoy getting to know this beautiful couple. (Who knows, maybe someday they’ll be capturing your wedding. 😉 )

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW YOU MET EACH OTHER, AND ABOUT WHAT “DREW” YOU TO ONE ANOTHER?

We met through a local ministry where we served together for over a year. Sarah was attracted to Simeon’s heart for God, sincerity, his style, and musical talent. Simeon was drawn to Sarah’s love for Jesus, commitment to prayer, and her beauty. We did like each other on and off at different times through that year but never both of us at the same time until Simeon finally decided to start pursuing a relationship… and the rest is history.

TELL US SOMETHING THAT YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR SPOUSE, AND WHY?

I (Sarah) love Simeon’s humor, he is always making me laugh and making life fun even in the hard times. He is a peacemaker and does not let things go unresolved between us. And he is so good at verbally affirming me.

I (Simeon) love all the ways Sarah cares for me. Whether its packing sandwiches for my work lunch, diligently doing all my laundry (I haven’t done a load since we got married), or just showing me love throughout the day it seems she is always looking for ways to show me love or to make my day better.

WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE MEMORIES FROM YOUR OWN WEDDING DAY?

To end our ceremony, as soon as we walked down the aisle we jumped into a restored British sports car (triumph tr5) and drove off. We only drove a little bit down the road and we pulled into a farmhouse driveway to sit and enjoy the moment together. We were finally husband and wife! Yay! Moment enjoyed, we decided to head back for family pictures, but I (Simeon) couldn’t figure out how to get the car in reverse! The car was a manual and I was comfortable driving it but for some reason I couldn’t figure out reverse. We ended up having to drive forward into this nice manicured front lawn of the farmhouse to turn it around. We still laugh about it to this day and no one even knew about it!

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE THINGS YOU ENJOY DOING TOGETHER AS A COUPLE?

We love being outdoors! Exploring local parks, camping, hiking with our dog Wally, snowboarding, and disc golf. Photography, travel, watching movies and playing music.

DO YOU HAVE ANY FAVORITE TRAVEL DESTINATIONS, OR EXCITING TRIPS YOU’VE TAKEN TOGETHER?

We went to Maine for our honeymoon and loved every minute of that gorgeous area! We recently returned from a trip to southeast Asia that was filled with amazing scenery, awesome food, remote villages, and even elephant rides.

SHARE WITH US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR BUCKET LIST? WHAT ARE SOME OF THINGS YOU CAN’T WAIT TO DO TOGETHER?

• We would love to own a home someday that has room for all of our animal wish list (horse, goats, donkeys, great danes, etc)

• Travel to Israel as a couple

• Go to as many US National Parks as we can

• Write music together

 

HOW (OR WHERE) DID YOU DEVELOPED AN INTEREST IN PHOTOGRAPHY?

Sarah: My dad was always the guy with the camera and I would enjoy playing with his Canon Rebel camera. In my teenage years I was using it a lot, learning manual exposures, editing, taking pictures for my friends etc. He pushed me to buy my first ‘real’ camera, a canon 60d. Soon after that, I met Janae and Hugo, who taught me so much about photography.

Simeon: I always enjoyed pictures in general, but it wasn’t until dating Sarah that I developed a real interest in photography. She showed me her ‘fancy’ cameras, where you adjust ‘complicated’ settings and I very quickly realized this was something I enjoyed.

WHAT’S ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT GETTING TO WORK TOGETHER AS A HUSBAND AND WIFE TEAM?

It almost feels like a date for us, spending a day together, doing something we love. We love how each wedding reminds us of our own marriage too! And having someone to work with that a lot of the time knows what your thinking and how to help you accomplish your work.

DO YOU HAVE ANY MARRIAGE ADVICE FOR US?

No matter what, remember that your spouse is on your team, you are united as one for the same cause. Believe the best about each other and intentions.
