3 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD GET YOUR DREAM WEDDING BOUQUET (FROM A PHOTOGRAPHERS PERSPECTIVE) // FOR BRIDES & GROOMS

April 6, 2018

Today we are talking FLOWERS! Yep, pretty much my favorite topic in the whole wide world. OK, maybe not my favorite topic, but it’s one of them. I want to start by letting you know that I am not a florist or a flower expert by any means. However we will be talking about flowers from a photographers perspective, specifically the bridal bouquet.

When you are planning a wedding day there are hundreds of items that as a bride and groom you have to be thinking about. Often the venue and the dress are the first items to get chosen, and until you get around to flowers your budget might be looking slightly reduced, and it’s easy to think, “Do we really need to spend money on something that’s literally going to die?!?” Trust me, I had the same thoughts when we planned our wedding. It’s a totally valid thought.

Flowers can feel like an expensive nonessential, specially since their lifespan is limited. However today I’m going to break down a few reasons why you want to consider not skimping on your flowers for your wedding day.

YOUR FLOWERS WON’T BE AROUND FOR LONG, BUT YOUR PHOTOS WILL.

We’ve touched on this briefly, but we all know that flowers come and go, sometimes brides will dry their bouquet, but for the most part they normally are gone by the time you get back from your honeymoon. However, just because these beauties won’t make it past more then a week, it doesn’t mean that they’re “gone.” That’s right, think about ALL the photos that the bride’s bouquet makes it to. Bride & Groom portraits, Bridal Party, Family photos, and the list goes on… Yep, It is pretty many photos! Because of this, you’ll want a bouquet that you really LOVE. Investing in your dream bouquet is something you won’t regret, because you’ll have lots of images documenting it.

TIP : Make sure you get your dream bouquet, and then worry about the bridesmaids bouquets. Their flowers will be in a significantly less amount of photos.

PHOTOGRAPHERS CAN USE YOUR BOUQUET IN ALL KINDS OF CREATIVE WAYS

Seriously, us photo types can do all kinds of fun stuff with your bouquet. From your detail photos and on, your bouquet adds a creative element that makes for photos that you will love forever.

TIP: Your bouquet will most likely be sitting on your head table or sweetheart table at your reception meaning that it could potentially be in a significant number of reception photos as well.

THEY ADD THAT EXTRA “MAGIC”

Flowers can be such a great link to tying together the colors and style of your wedding day. They add that extra romance and texture that elevates an image from good to great.

More then that though, weddings are NOT just about photos. They’re about marriage and people, and flowers are a symbol of new beginnings and fidelity. We’ve seen brides even use flowers to tell part of the couple’s story. Take Shelby & Jonathan for example, Jonathan was born in Africa, so they chose to incorporate different African flowers in their bouquets as a link to their past. Isn’t that beautiful?!?!
