THE WHITE CLIFFS OF CONOY, MATERNITY PHOTO SESSION // CASITA DE TOMAS

April 24, 2018

Hello & Happy Day! We have very few regrets about how things went when we were pregnant with our first daughter, Gloria. However the only one we have was that we didn’t have maternity photos taken. Don’t ask what we were thinking! I mean we’re photographers for goodness sakes, you’d think we’d have our act together. 😉 Looking back on it, I remember feeling pretty self-conscious about the way I looked while I was pregnant with our first little lady, and I think that’s what prompted me to not have photos taken. Again I don’t know why I felt that way, being pregnant for the first time is so “foreign”. You live in this 9 months state of constant change, and you have no idea what you’re doing or what is going on. Either way, if you’re expecting your first (second, third, fourth…ect.) and are considering skipping out on maternity photos, do yourself a favor and DON’T! One of the beautiful parts of having your photo taken is that it’s a way of documenting the “season” you’re in. Whether it’s a super joyful or really heavy season of your life, we’ve personally found that no matter what our circumstances are, good or bad, life is WORTH remembering. Photos help us remember, they remind us of where we’ve been and where we are going. Never let insecurity, fear, or a couple extra pounds hold you back…SO this time around we had maternity photos taken. 😉

Sarah, from the Janae Rose Photography Team captured these images for us, and we literally can’t thank her enough! These images basically just send me (Janae) into a big ol’ sappy puddle of tears. Not only did she do such a tremendous job of making me feel beautiful and special, but she captured some really sweet images of Gloria, which is kind of incredible considering she was happy/cooperative for about five minutes during this session. In honor these photos we’d thought we share a few fun facts about this current journey of adding to our family! ENJOY!

  • WE FOUND OUT WE WERE PREGNANT IN SEPTEMBER

In the middle of one of our busiest seasons EVER, we got the good news! In our plans we thought we’d be getting the news a little “earlier”, so finding out we were expecting was super exciting! I (Janae) definitely have learned something about timing with this pregnancy. Gloria’s birth happened right on “my” schedule, and having to wait this time around was in many moments heartbreaking. Our experience was nothing like what others have faced or are currently walking through, and it gave us a heart for people who have prayed for and are wanting to start or add to their family.

  • FOUR DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS,WE FOUND OUT WE’RE HAVING ANOTHER GIRL!

By far one of the best Christmas gifts we’ve ever gotten! We’d be happy with either a boy or a girl, however Gloria was convinced she was having a sister, and she was right! From the beginning we had an inclination that we might be having a girl, however Hugo’s family basically convinced us before the ultrasound that we were definitely having a boy, so we were a little surprised when we found out baby is a girl!

  • WE’VE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO AGREE ON A BOY’S NAME

Not when we had Gloria, and not this time either. So basically if for some reason all of our ultrasounds got read wrong, and we end up having a boy, we’ve got no back-up. 😉

  • CURRENT CRAVING IS RAMEN NODDLES

I haven’t had a lot of cravings, this is one of the few…along with an increased desired to eat hot sauce on EVERYTHING.

  • LITTLE LADIES NAME MEANS “SEED” IN HEBREW

I’m pretty sure we’ve made mention of bebé número dos’s name on social media, but for now we’ll keep you guessing…or you can just go stalking our social media accounts. We’re no good at keeping secrets, and we’ve basically told everyone babies name, but if you’re one of the few that haven’t heard, we’ll let a little surprise for you (since she literally could be born any day now). Her name also has other meanings in several different languages which is something we really liked about it.

  • ALSO… MIDDLE NAMES IS…TBD

We joke that little ladies middle name is going to be determined by whoever gets to the paperwork first… 😉
